The Gareth Voigt Trio features some of the best up and coming players Melbourne has to offer. The music will take you on a journey from traditional jazz standards to contemporary original compositions. The group draws from a range of influences including swing, hip-hop, funk and electronic music as well as placing a heavy emphasis on improvisation.
Jazz saxophonist and freelance musician, Gareth Voigt received his Bachelor of Music from Monash University in 2014. Studying music has given Gareth opportunities to perform abroad in China and New York, where he completed a three-week intensive jazz course at New York University. Gareth is currently tutoring woodwind in schools, directing school ensembles and teaching privately as well as performing regularly at iconic Melbourne venues. He is the tenor saxophonist for successful Melbourne funk group ‘Papa G and the Starcats’ who have recently released another EP.
