Event Details

 

We are pleased to present the screening of Earth-Q, a story about the impact the 2015 Nepal earthquake had on remote communities, the struggles they now face to provide a quality education for their children and the journey taken by the Foundation to help support these communities.

Food, drinks and entertainment will be provided followed by a screening of the film. Proceeds from the event will go towards rebuilding a school destroyed by the earthquake in the Gorkha District.

A/Prof Christopher Ziguras, Deputy Dean, International, will be hosting the event on behalf of RMIT University.

ENTERTAINMENT
Gareth VoigtThe Gareth Voigt Trio features some of the best up and coming players Melbourne has to offer. The music will take you on a journey from traditional jazz standards to contemporary original compositions. The group draws from a range of influences including swing, hip-hop, funk and electronic music as well as placing a heavy emphasis on improvisation.

Jazz saxophonist and freelance musician, Gareth Voigt received his Bachelor of Music from Monash University in 2014. Studying music has given Gareth opportunities to perform abroad in China and New York, where he completed a three-week intensive jazz course at New York University. Gareth is currently tutoring woodwind in schools, directing school ensembles and teaching privately as well as performing regularly at iconic Melbourne venues. He is the tenor saxophonist for successful Melbourne funk group ‘Papa G and the Starcats’ who have recently released another EP. Gareth’s passion for composing and arranging is evident in his latest compositions, which will be showcased by his multifaceted trio.
